Mandera County secures Sh13.8bn in additional funds for 2024/25 budget cycle

Each of these grants and loans is strategically aimed at enhancing the county's health services, agricultural resilience, urban development, and overall economic stability.

I am honoured to share with you the results of our relentless efforts to secure more resources for our beloved county.

As your Senator, I have always pledged to protect devolution and fight tirelessly for the development of Mandera. Today, I am proud to announce that we have achieved significant progress in the current budget cycle.

Our success in securing these funds is complemented by the diligent work of the Office of the Governor, which holds the executive responsibility for planning and implementing programs in our county.

The Governor’s office ensures that both recurrent and development funds are utilised efficiently and effectively, turning our collective vision into reality. Together, we form a robust partnership dedicated to the growth and prosperity of Mandera County.

Our county has been allocated a grand total of Sh13,865,496,863.97 in additional funds in the current budget cycle. This substantial financial boost is a testament to our collective determination and the strength of our advocacy. Here’s a breakdown of the crucial funds we have secured:

1. County Equitable Share (CARB, 2024): Sh12,054,974,661

•This significant share ensures that Mandera receives its fair portion of national revenue, enabling us to address our unique challenges and opportunities.

2. Equalization Fund (Appropriation No.2 Bill, 2023): Sh792,579,415

•This fund is vital for bridging the development gaps and ensuring that Mandera can accelerate its growth and infrastructure projects.

3. County Aggregation and Industrial Parks (CAIP) Programme: Sh250,000,000

•These funds will foster industrial development and create job opportunities, spurring economic growth in our county.

4. Community Health Promoters (CHPs) Project: Sh18,540,000

•Investing in health is investing in our future. This project will enhance our community health services, ensuring better healthcare for all.

5. Road Maintenance Fuel Levy (RMFL) for FY 2024/25: Sh192,647,254.89

•Improved road infrastructure means better connectivity and economic development. These funds will maintain and upgrade our roads.

6. Development Partner Grants and Loans:

•DANIDA Primary Health Care: Sh15,746,250

•World Bank Emergency Locust Response Program: Sh142,500,000

•IDA (World Bank) Food Systems Resilience Project (FSRP): Sh173,076,923.08

•IDA (World Bank) Kenya Devolution Support Program (KDSP II): Sh37,500,000

•IDA (World Bank) Kenya Urban Support Project (KUSP) Urban Institutional Grant (UIG): Sh35,000,000

•IDA (World Bank) Kenya Urban Support Project (KUSP) Urban Development Grant (UDG): Sh142,013,441

•Sweden-Kenya Agricultural Business Development Project (KABDP): Sh10,918,919
